In the manga of Dragon Ball, Vegeta has a monologue about Super Saiyan where she informs us of the legend and his history. However, unlike our common anime, we do not get any visual account of it.

The very first designs of Super Saiyan God (where he wears a cape) and the Original Super Saiyan God where he fights the evil Saiyans on the planet Vegeta bear major resemblances with the Guardian of Planet Vegeta.

Yamoshi has a great resemblance to Vegeta. This fact is extremely uncommon among other Saiyans and it might suggest that Vegeta has some relation with him. Our idea is further strengthened, when Vegeta comes up with her monologue about the Super Saiyan Legend.
